The Whatever Craft House

As some of you may know, I recently went on a team retreat with my lovely colleagues and had an absolute blast. I thought it’d be fun to chat with you about the magic of going on a retreat. Retreats are truly something special, offering a chance to unwind, connect with fellow crafters, and tap into your creativity in a whole new way. And today, I want to shine a spotlight on a place that holds a special piece of my heart: the Whatever Craft House.

About the Whatever Craft House

Nestled in the heart of Newton, Kansas, the Whatever Craft House is a haven for crafters and makers alike. Hosted by the wonderful Meg Duerksen, this retreat space is magical. The house itself, over 120 years old, exudes charm and character at every turn, making it the perfect backdrop for a creative escape.

Upon stepping through the front door, you’re greeted with warmth and whimsy. From the cozy sitting room adorned with stained glass windows to the vibrant kitchen bursting with color, every inch of the Whatever Craft House is designed to inspire. The eclectic decor, featuring vintage finds and handmade treasures, creates a welcoming atmosphere that instantly sparks creativity.

But the real magic happens in the crafting spaces. With ample room to spread out and let your creativity flow, the Whatever Craft House is a crafter’s paradise. From sewing to scrapbooking, painting to paper crafting, there’s a dedicated space for every creative pursuit. And with a well-stocked supply of crafting essentials, you’ll have everything you need to bring your ideas to life.

One of the highlights of the Whatever Craft House is its charming bedrooms. Each bedroom is thoughtfully decorated with cozy quilts, vintage linens, and unique touches that make you feel right at home. Whether you’re bunking up with friends or enjoying a little solo retreat time, you’ll find comfort and inspiration in every corner.

And I can’t forget about the rainbow stairs – a whimsical feature that’s famous at the Whatever Craft House. Painted in vibrant hues, these stairs serve as a colorful backdrop for photos and a reminder that creativity knows no bounds.

If you’ve been itching to go on a retreat, I highly recommend putting the Whatever Craft House on your radar. And if you can’t make it to Kansas, don’t worry – there are plenty of retreat houses out there waiting to welcome!
