Supply List – Candle Creation

Supply List – Canvas Creation

We are using our NEW Joy to the World napkin bundle to create some stunning faith-based Christmas projects that you can display around your home this holiday season. We’ll be using a combination of napkins and printables to create some candle decor. I’ll also be showing you how to make a canvas creation with napkin art, ribbon, greenery, and lights.

Embellishing Candles with Napkin Art

Grab a piece of gift tissue paper and cut it to 8.5×11 – the same size as copy paper. Take an iron with no water in it on the highest setting and smooth down your tissue paper to get rid of any fold creases. Take a piece of regular copy paper and place the tissue paper on top, shiny side down, and tape it together with washi tape. Then, simply print your printables onto your tissue paper. Lay your tissue paper down, ink side up, and place copy paper on op. Heat set the ink with your iron. Now, it’s ready for you to add to your projects!

Next, take a battery-operated candle (wax coated) and we are going to add some napkin art and printables! I am using the napkin with sheet music, which I will cut in half, trim to the size of my candle, and separate the plys. Add a coat of Mod Podge Matte to your candle and apply your napkin, smoothing it down with a sheet of plastic wrap. Dry with a heat tool.

I have a “Joy to the World” napkin (this one is a guest towel size) and I will just cut the word part out of the napkin as well as some of the greenery trim. I will separate the plys and apply the word part of the napkin with Mod Podge Matte again. I’ll also add some of the greenery to the bottom of my candle. Dry with a heat tool, add a top coat of Mod Podge Matte, and dry again.

I love a candle that actually feels like wax, so I’m going to take some wax paper and basically melt it on top of the candle. Trim the wax paper to size and wrap it around the entire candle. Take a heat tool and bring it in close to your candle, melting the wax onto the candle. Peel the wax paper off and your candle will have wax on it! Feel free to add Stickles and other embellishments at this point.

For my other candle, I’m going to add one of my printables. I’m going to cut “Oh come all ye faithful” out of my printable sheet and apply it to my candle in the same exact way – just like a napkin.

Creating a Christmas Canvas with Napkin Art

I have a napkin from the bundle with Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus. Cut your napkin to a square and then separate your plys. Take a 6×6 chunky canvas and add a coat of Mod Podge Matte. Lay your napkin on top and then place a plastic sheet over that to smooth it down with your hands. Dry with a heat tool and sand off the excess napkin with some sandpaper.

Next, I’ll cut out the words “Oh Come Let Us Adore Him” out from our printable sheet. Add Mod Podge Matte and apply the words in the same way. Dry with a heat tool, seal with a coat of Mod Podge Matte, and dry again.

Next, I’ll take some Stickles and sparkle everything that is gold on my art piece as well as the star and swaddle.

I have some pretty gold ribbon that I am going to wrap around my entire canvas, securing it with hot glue. I’m also going to make a bow out of my gold ribbon, wrapping some white ribbon around the center. I’m also going to tie in some fairy lights to my bow. I’ll hot glue the entire bow to the top of my canvas. I also have some frosted greenery and a little ornament that I’ll hot glue to the top as well.

You can also take some battery-operated tea lights and sit them on the back ledge of your canvas. These chunky canvases work best for this! Then, your canvas will have a lovely glow from behind as well as some pretty twinkle lights on the top.

Enjoy making this beautiful Christmas decor to decorate your home and remind you of the reason for the season!
