Easy Travel Scrapbook Layout Tutorial

Supply List:

  • Patterned Papers (I used Born to Travel from Echo Park)
  • Cardstock
  • Coal Miner Chalk Ink
  • Scotch Quick-dry Liquid Glue
  • Foam Tape
  • Hot Glue
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Buttons

Whether you just got back from the beach, visited grandkids, went camping, or took a big anniversary cruise, this scrapbook layout is for you. In fact, it’s perfect for any trip – big or small! If you’ve got a stash of vacation photos and a love for preserving memories, keep reading! I’ll show you how to put together a travel-themed double-page layout.

Building the Layout – Page One

I started by layering strips of patterned paper to create a colorful background. Then I added three photo mats – one large and two smaller ones. These are just placeholders for your photos, which you can trim to size later (I love using a Selphy printer at home so I can print only what I need).

I popped up a “Destination Vacation” card using foam tape for dimension. I also added a cute cut-apart suitcase embellishment by bubble-cutting around it (a little border makes it super forgiving). A bit of ribbon and two buttons completed the page.

Companion Page – Page Two

Page two continues the travel vibe using coordinating papers. I kept things cohesive with a strip of the same background pattern along the bottom and reused my ribbon to bring it all together.

I added more photo mats and a fun “Wake Me When We Land” card, popped up to look like a pocket. If you have actual memorabilia (ticket stubs, maps, brochures, etc.) you can easily create a real pocket for those, too.

For embellishments, I cut out a little compass and backpack card and added it to the corner, along with more buttons and a journaling spot. Remember: you don’t need to write a novel – just include the who, what, where, and when.
