DIY Christmas Creative Canvas

Supply List:

We are creating holiday napkin art that is giftable using our new Creative Gift Canvas Kits and a handful of basic supplies. We have four different kits available, so you can pick and choose which design you like best. On the back side of each canvas, you will have a special pocket to hold sentiments, gift cards, treats, and more. Each kit includes a 6x6x1.5 white canvas, decorative napkins, patterned papers, Christmas ribbon, Christmas twine, 3 Jingle Bells, and 2 white tags. These creative gift canvases are easy, clever, and cute – and I know you will love making them this holiday season!

Applying Napkin Art to Your Canvas

Start by separating the plys of your napkin until you have that top layer of napkin art. Apply a coat of Mod Podge Matte to your canvas. Lap your napkin on top and then place plastic wrap over top of that that so you can smooth your napkin down really nicely with your hands. Dry with a heat tool. Sand off the excess edges of the napkin.

Go back and do a thin coat of Mod Podge Matte over top to seal and protect your napkin art. Let it dry.

Create Your Gift Pocket

Your kit will have two pieces of cardstock that we will add to the back of the canvas to create a cute little gift pocket. I like to use ScorTape to add this cardstock. Add the tape to your large square piece and stick it to the canvas back. Then, add ScorTape to three sides of the rectangular piece and add that to your canvas to create a pocket.

Feel free to add your white card tags with written sentiments, gift cards, treats, and more in the pocket!

Embellish Your Creative Gift Canvas

Cut off 5 inches of twine, thread your jingle bells on, and tie it off so it creates a nice cluster of bells.

In your kit, you will have two pieces of ribbon – one shorter and one longer. We will create a bow out of the shorter piece of ribbon. You can create a traditional bow or make one in a bow shape using twine to tie it off in the middle.

Grab your longer piece of ribbon and a hot glue gun. Add lines of hot glue to the edges of your canvas and apply your ribbon, wrapping it around as you go.

On the top of your canvas, add about three lines of hot glue in the middle and attach your bow. Add more hot glue to the center of your bow and attach your jingle bell cluster. With that hanging twine, I’ll simply make a bow.

My final step is to add Stickles! I’m going to add Stickles to everything that is white on my napkin art.

Each Creative Gift Canvas Kit is unique with different napkin art, cardstock, and ribbons! These are perfect for gifting to those people in your life who you just need “a little something” for – neighbors, co-workers, postal workers, hairdressers, etc! Get creative with what you choose to add in your gift pocket and have fun gifting these to the people you love.

I go LIVE on my Facebook page every Friday at 11 am CST for a fun and easy Craft-n-Chat Session. Come learn something new while creating something beautiful!
