This week, I found so many cute things that we are going to napkinize and makeover for spring! We will be working with a wooden tray that I picked up from Hobby Lobby and a metal truck from Dollar Tree. You will love seeing the amazing things that you can create with napkin art!

Adding Napkin Art to a Metal Tray

I love doing “container decorating”, which is when you decorate within something that looks more cohesive and you can easily move around. I consider this tray a container because we can put lots of things on top of it and it just brings it all together nicely.

I have a pretty floral napkin that I will be applying to my wooden tray. I am cutting it to the circular size of the tray. This particular napkin has scallops around the edge, so I’m going to cut those scallops off and apply them to my next project!

Separate the plys of your napkin until you have the top artwork layer. I’m not going to paint the tray at all. I like that wood grain showing through.

Next, apply a layer of Mod Podge Matte to your tray with a paintbrush. Lay your napkin on top, grab a piece of plastic wrap to lay on top, and smooth it all down with your hands. Let dry or dry with a heat gun.

Finally, add one more layer of Mod Podge Matte on top, which helps seal and make your napkin more transparent. Let dry and you have a pretty decorative tray for your spring home decor!

Adding Floral Napkins to a Metal Decorative Truck

I popped into my Dollar Tree and found this super cute metal truck (for $4!), and I can’t wait to show you how to add all of the cute floral napkins to it. It came with a little carrot in the back of it, but I removed that and now I can add whatever I would like.

I’m going to gather some of the napkin pieces that I will be using on my truck. I have the floral scallop pieces from my metal tray project. Plus, I have tons of flowers cut out from napkins that I will be applying all over my truck.

Add a layer of Mod Podge Matte to where you will be applying your napkin piece. Grab your napkin piece and place the plastic wrap on top to apply and smooth it out onto your truck. Use your fingers to push that napkin into the grooves.

Do this for all of the napkin pieces that you will be adding! I have some printables with words that I will be adding to my truck as well.

Once you have all of your napkins added, let dry and then add a top coat of Mod Podge Matte to seal it all in. Once dry again, I’ll add some detail lines with my Pitt Pin to give it some texture and dimension.

We have taken a little dollar store item and made it into the cutest little spring flower truck. That’s the magic of creating and working with napkin art! The truck looks so cute on the metal tray we added napkins to as well! Remember, you can napkinize pretty much anything. Do some spring makeovers and let your creativity flow, ya’ll!
